The first written mention of the present Holy Assumption Monastery Svyatogorsk still refer to the first half of the XVI century.
Abode underwent repeated raids and the devastation of the Crimean Tatars. During the reign of Catherine II the monastery was abolished. But since 1844 Sviatohirsk monastery was restored, and thanks to the works of the abbot and monks became one of the largest monasteries in Russia Empire.
Nowadays on the territory of the Lavra monastery are 5 kolokolen, in which 54 bells installed, and the biggest of them weighing more than 6tonn. Also in the monastery held a wonderful fraternal chorus.
