Types of pipelines

Heating systems use different types of pipelines. Mostly pipes are made from steel, non-ferrous metals (copper, aluminum) and polymers.

Steel pipes are most common in apartments, due to their relatively low cost. The main disadvantage is the very low corrosion resistance. There are several ways to protect against corrosion, one of them is zinc plating. But in a galvanized system, it is contraindicated to use antifreeze. Among other things, another disadvantage is the complicated and expensive installation.

Pipes made of non-ferrous metals did not become widespread due to their high cost. They have a number of advantages over steel ones: they do not corrode, they comply with environmental norms in certain standards.

Polymer pipes of various types are gaining enormous popularity lately. They are made of metal-plastic, polypropylene, polyethylene, etc. The cost is higher than that of steel, but much lower than copper. However, the number of advantages: low specific weight, absence of corrosion, convenience and ease of assembly and installation, overshadows their cost. Therefore, it will be most profitable to buy seamless stainless steel pipes.

Due to the high quality of construction and reliable thermal insulation of buildings, as well as the use of local or autonomous heat supply facilities, the temperature of the coolant dropped to 90 degrees. As a result, it became possible to use a plastic pipeline instead of steel. The use of plastic pipes is due to the operating parameters: the radiation heating of the panels is no more than - 60 ° С, the maximum heating of the coolant is 95 ° С.

An important quality of polymer pipes is low thermal conductivity. Thanks to this quality, heat is retained in the system, energy is saved, which is spent on heating other types of coolant.

Consider two types of heating systems: polypropylene and metal-plastic.

When choosing products from a polymer material, pay attention to the following points: the temperature of the coolant and the working pressure, the distribution of the heating network and its type, the features of the architectural part of the building.

Polypropylene, like metal-plastic, is distinguished by excellent corrosion resistance, low thermal conductivity and durability. But there are some peculiarities. Polypropylene pipes and fittings are cheaper, but assembly at negative temperatures is impossible.

Metal-plastic products are quickly and easily assembled and assembled. In addition, it is flexible and able to bend around corners and irregularities without the use of additional parts. This type is often used when installing a warm floor.
