Cathedral of Saint Prince Alexander Nevsky - the main Orthodox Cathedral in Yalta, one of the attractions of the city.
The cathedral was built in honor of Russia's Tsar Alexander II, who died at the hands of the People. The architects were NP Krasnov and PK Terebenev, personally approved the draft of which the Emperor Alexander III.
In laying the first stone March 1, 1891, the day of the tenth anniversary of the death of the Emperor, attended by the Empress Maria Feodorovna. Consecration of the Cathedral took place on Dec. 4, 1902 in the presence of Emperor Nicholas II, his family and entourage.
Near the cathedral was built three-tiered bell tower, for which 11 bells were cast in Moscow. The icons for the cathedral were painted by masters from Mstiora in Vladimir Province.
In 1938, the Cathedral of St. Alexander Nevsky was closed, the bells sent to the facility. Inside the cathedral, made a sports club, and in the school building - Teachers. In 1945, the cathedral was reopened worship. It was later returned to the room parochial school, which since 1995 operates public schools, and trained about 100 children.
